Obamacare in Wisconsin will have a very different look in 2015 than the previous year. Some of the carriers that sat out the first round will now enter the ring. One carrier that many were hoping to see is Assurant, but it appears that the will again stay on the sidelines of their home state. What this means for health insurance in Wisconsin is that as more providers enter the game we should have more choices, better networks and some pricing competition. It can only get better, the more companies that are battling for your dollar, like any other business you need competition to keep the market in check. Obamacare in Wisconsin has had several issues, many of them coming from third party errors with billing and sending out member paperwork. I know two companies that have acknowledged this and made the wise decisions to take these procedures in-house. The new Open enrollment starts November 15 and continues through February 15, with the earliest coverage start date of 01 Jan 2015. Now is the time to start looking at your policy, and asking yourself if it is the right fit or do we need to look for something different.
LJM Insurance is certified for the new year and we are putting together all the information as it is being rolled out. Obamacare in Wisconsin is run on the Federal Exchange and while it has been updated, there are still some issues being reported on the website. One of the lessons we learned from last year is that it is much harder to fix an application then it is to get it done right the first time, we have had many people contact us that, there doctor wasn't in network or that the subsidy is wrong, and while most of these issues can be fixed some are just stuck until next years effective dates. Please give us a call contact us so we can get your questions answered and get you the coverage you want and need right the first time. We have the experience, and the tools that most consumers don't have and along with our relationship to all the major providers, we can offer a smooth transition and the right fit for you and your family.
One thing I would like to point out is that Obamacare (ACA) is nothing more than a set of requirements that all insurance companies must adhere to. All major medical plans offered today, other than Short Term, are Obamacare (ACA) plans whether they are purchased on the Federal Marketplace or direct through the carrier. The difference between carrier direct and the Exchange is that the Subsidy or Tax Credit can only be issued through the Market Place.
