The First ACA (Obamacare) Open Enrollment

The First ACA (Obamacare) Open Enrollment
We made it through the first Open Enrollment for Obamacare and it has been a rough ride.  I personally have learned many things about the law, some that couldn't be taught in a class room.  At LJM Insurance we learned what carriers work well with this law and which ones still just don't get it.  We also learned that looking over the networks is probably the most important factors to the enrollment process.  I have a few clients that had the plan chosen before we did the app only to find out after it was to late that their preferred doctors were not in network.  The websites and provider lookups can be tricky to maneuver and I highly recommend letting your agent do this chore for you.

What has to go down in history as one of this administrations biggest failures, has to be the rollout of the website.  The website was the most important piece of the puzzle and could have shaped the rollout in a very different light.  We continually see that our government is out of touch with us, and this is a prime example.  No corporate executive would have allowed this to happen, and if they did they would have been escorted out the door immediately.  There is absolutely no excuse for how the system worked at the start or how it is working now, and the money spent should be refunded to every taxpayer.  The Open Enrollment process should have been tested and ready to start, the ACA (Obamacare) is going on four years inforce and you would think they just started this project 30 days before the enrollment started.  The website is working better since they brought in a new company to take over the project and now that Open Enrollment is over they have plenty of time to fix.

You can still enroll for health insurance if you have a qualifying life event such as, moving, marrying, divorce or change in family size.

We will still be helping anyone that qualifies for the ACA Special Enrollment Period, but we will be focusing on continuing education of the law and working with our Medicare customers.

With the constant changing of rates for Medicare Supplements it is very important to review your coverage every year to ensure that you are getting the best value for your dollar.  All benefits must be the same for a Medicare Supplement the only difference is what you pay for your coverage.  Give LJM Insurance a call to get a free review of your policy and see if we cant help you save on your premium.
